Jale Balcı, one of Turkey's finest female chefs, graduated from Istanbul University with a degree in Economics and then attended Ecole Ducasse in Paris to study pastry and culinary arts. The 'Mmmmmh!' Culinary School in Brussels was her next place of study. She worked at the Mike Norman and Four Seasons Istanbul restaurants. She developed Lokanta Farina and Antiochia restaurants and managed their kitchens. She authored several publications including Keyifli Sofralar İçin 50 Pratik Menü (50 Practical Menus for Enjoyable Tables), Aperitif Mönüler (Aperitif Menus) , Tarihin Tadı Deniz Tuzu(Taste of History Sea Salt), Tadında Yolculuk - Antakya'dan Kaliforniya'ya (Journey in Taste - From Antakya to California), Antakya ve Yemekleri ve Derin Köklerin Meyvesi, Zeytinyağı (Antakya and Its Dishes and Fruit of Deep Roots, Olive Oil).
She presently organizes the Antakya Food Festival, serves as the city of Antakya's culinary ambassador, and consults with food and beverage companies. She is also a member of the board of directors of Şişli Gastronomy College.
